Meet A Cotton Ball With Wings – The Long Tailed Tit Bird

0

Have you ever been to Hokkaido, the second largest island in Japan? If so, then these little balls of stuffing are sure to catch your eye as they fly over the trees.

They are the long-tailed tits or Shima Enagas in Japanese!

These adorable birds are unique to this particular popular island in Japan. People also compare them to cotton candy.

However, their body length is about 13 – 15 cm and their tails are double the length of this.

These tit birds have black eyebrows at the beginning but lose them as their transition takes place into adulthood.

With the loss of their black eyebrows, their faces appear completely white, making them look like snowmen.

They live in flocks and about 20-30 birds live in one flock. They have very cool acrobatic tricks to flutter around.

The female birds lay nearly 7-10 eggs at a time to maintain their general counts.

Their families always rebound due to a large number of eggs that they lay during the winter season. They become vulnerable too.

The unique version of the long-tailed tits can be seen only in Hokkaido. Yet, different versions of them are spread in Western Europe across Russia all the way to Japan.
