Animals usually never forget those who treat them with kindness. No matter what size or ferocity any creature is, they are always grateful to those who care for them. This story proves it. Although dogs are known as man’s best friend, Valentin Gruener, perhaps might disagree with this saying. This wildlife enthusiast has friends with an animal we never thought even think of befriending.
His best friend is a lioness called Sirga. The two share a very deep connection to the extent that they leap at each other every single time they meet. Fortunately, someone managed to capture this adorable moment and the video went viral as soon as it was posted on TikTok. Sirga is friendly and gentle in the presence of Valentin, but he doesn’t encourage people to interact with the lioness.

Valentin is the only person playing with Sirga and because no one else isn’t used her, it would be dangerous for others to befriend her. If someone asks the lioness who her favorite human is, she will undoubtedly answer “Valentin”. Their friendship started 11 years ago (2023) in 2012. When the lioness was neglected by her own mother and needed hand-raising.
The video of the interaction between the lion and the man shows Sarga depicts how surprised Sirga gets when she meets Valentin. She always doesn’t forget to greet him with warm hugs.
Sirga is one of the surviving early cubs. her mother refused to feed her, Valentin offered to care for and feed the cute lion cub. That’s how the bond between these two started.
Sirga began to embrace Valentin from childhood. This habit continued. As the cub grew older, the connection that she and Valentin shared was stronger.
Currently, Sirga is hanging out with Valentin in the 2000-hectare reserve. He is here relaxing in the shade, jumping around, and cuddling with his beloved human.
This friendship was transformative for Sirga as well as Valentin. Caring care of the lioness made him understand the true meaning to be there for another being. Although Valentin loved animals throughout his life, caring for Sirga changed his life. His statement, “I will continue to be by her side and to fight for the survival of her wild relatives for as long as I live”, is proof of the adorable bond between these two.
